Very bleak and depressing story that resolves well. Characters are rather uninteresting, but the story is still good.

This book delvers the goods. Gemmell's ability to create characters that you can fall in love with and grow with is second to none. This book has a little bit of everything and has a great ending.Read this if you love fanatasy as Gemmell sets the standard of fantasy that very few in todays world can achieve.

It was a dark book. A heavy read at times. There were points I had to stop and come back to it later. It did pose some interesting perspectives on our notions of good and evil.
