Just finished this book and loved it. Just finished this book and loved it. It's a historical novel/family epic. It spans the life of four generations of Swedish women, taking the reader through economic depressions, two world wars and contemporary life. Its autobiographical form creates a closeness with the reader allowing you to intensly identify with each woman as they struggled with the challenges of their particular epoch. A well paced philosophical novel written in a very accessible style. Read it!   hide

Chronicle of the complicated relationships with one another in 3 generations of women. Makes me wish I'd known my grandparents better to know where some of my quirks came from!

when reading this my own mother and grandmother were in the back of my mind. It's a novel i could read again, it definately stays with you.

Wonderful book. All women of all ages should read this one.
