Although it's a slow starter and the reading is a bit tedious, it's definitely worth it after you get past the first quarter. Siegel's Atlantis is so detailed that you almost believe it's real, and the story will really get to you.

Brutal but lush and very feminine fantasy about the lost world of Atlantis and its touch upon two Yorkshire teens. The author, Jan Siegel, seems to embrace the pantheistic/pagan creatures she creates more than I can endorse, but I am swept along by her word whirlpool.

I couldn't put the book down. I loved it, besides from the time travel paradox and there not really being a clear resolution to it.

When I read the book, I fell in love with the story of a young teenage girl who finds out that she has a gift. The story is thrilling and exciting from the start. A family moving from the loudness of the city to a down to earth village in the country. I truely recommend this first novel of the series to anyone who loves fantasy novels. Not giving to much away about the stroy, I'd like to say...more

Lyrical, magical Bildungsroman. It is another Atlantis myth story, which I am really pretty sick of, but it manages to make it pretty damn interesting and new. Although I can't rank it among my fantasy favourites, I heartily endorse it.

This is a wonderfully lyrical book that really captures the ancient magical atmosphere of lost Atlantis, nicely contrasted with the bleakness of the Yorkshire Moors where the story ominously begins. A great sense of dark suspense and a thoroughly rich and enjoyable plot steeped in mythology makes it rise above your typical fantasy novel. This is one of those rare books that I never get tired of...more

Read it twice, and reading it again. A beautiful piece of literature, really. The language is so evocative that you'll keep reading just to watch those words unwind themselves into sentences.
