Time's Eye (A Time Odyssey)

I thought it was a very good read. Not exactly a new theme for Clarke, but it did pull you in with some interesting twists.

A very well written book. Most of the characters are very interesting. Clarke and Bxter promised a sequel. I am still waiting.

Last breath of Mr Clarke. Quite well written orthoquel to a Space Odyssey. True science fiction.

Interesting tale of a patchwork world thrown together by an alien presence with ulterior motives. Great weaving of centuries gone by with an era only now beginning. Clarke and Baxter have an interesting style of writing and this book will be one that you read all in one sitting!

Baxter is a new source of entertainment for me, whereas I've read everything from Sir Clarke. The story was interesting. Since reading this book, I've picked up the others in the series, and a couple of more from Baxter. Baxter is a new source of entertainment for me, whereas I've read everything from Sir Clarke. The story was interesting. Since reading this book, I've picked up the others in the series, and a couple of more from Baxter. The style of telling two stories at the same time, each taking place in a totally different venue (time, space) is something both authors seem to share. Much of this plot is similar to 2001. But on the other hand, it has nothing to do with that story. They just share the common theme of alien influence on humans. One critical factor in my evaluation of a book - is the ease of reading. This and the others in the series are easy to read. Whether you find the plot is good, simple, complicated, or just plain silly - the story telling is excellent, which forgives a lot of negatives in my opinion.   hide

I think the entire point of this book was to make Alexander the Great and Genghis Khan duke it out. It seemed kind of pointless after that, like a story that had no real ending in mind, and the actual ending didn't work well IMHO.

Planet Earth turns into a giant jigsaw puzzle, each piece of a different era. And we have the exponential growth of human development right in front of us; whether in the eyes of a prehistoric primate, or astronauts and researchers from the year 2037, or a battalion of soldiers in Pakistan from 1885. How will all these people manage to live together, and will they ever get back home is a question answered in the colossal battle in Babylon, between the Mongol Army led by Genghis Kan and the astronauts on their aid, and the Macedonian Army led by Alexander the Great.
