Clever.  It's sort of like what The Phantom Tollbooth would have been like if Clive Barker had written it.  It also has shades of the Cat's Eye Corner series.  This is all good praise, but I can't help but feel that the book could have been a lot better.

A wonderful, innovative and imaginative book. A great read for an older child, and aduts who enjoy visitng fantastical worlds. Some brilliant touches and descriptions. An absolute joy to read.

with a lot of Gaiman sprinkled with Rowling, Un Lun Dun's "Through the Looking Glass" comparisson reads more like Gaiman's "Neverwhere".  the sections are quick and the book easy to read.  i was easily invested in the book yet not so much ion the characters.  i would definately read over and over, though.
