Hijinks ensue, largely the fault of the main characters, but escalated by circumstances beyond their control. It ends in tears but realistically and believably so. This is the book that brought me back to enjoying genre fiction without any qualms whatsoever - it is deep, gripping, poetic, literary, scary as hell and full of magic, science and horror.   hide
