This was the first writings from Howard that I had the oppurtunity to read and it did not disapoint! Kane is a puritan wandering the world. Sounds kinda weird, and it is. These stories are filled with weird pagan horrors that send Kane into a horrific violent madness. A collection of short stories and poems, really not one to be missed by any fan of pulpy weird adventure stories. I'd be...more

One of the coolest non-Conan creations of R.E.H.

swashbuckling, sacrifices, vampires, and plenty of action and a daring sword wielding English Puritan! This is what an adventure/fantasy should be all about. Fun Stuff.

From the pen of Robert E. Howard comes Solomon Kane, the sword-swinging Puritan warrior who takes on all comers, from the regular bandits and highwaymen to the supernatural. Its a short story format, like his other tales, but it is easier to construct a narrative from these than the Conan tales.

In my opinion Kane was Howard's greatest creation, even ovber shadowing Conan the Barbarian.

Think stalker version of Mr.Magoo with roid rage. A lot of people love him. I do not. Too bad because the writing is in ways better than average and the presentation in this edition is great with the huge amount of...more

A good collection of pulp stories from the early 1930's focused on a secondary adventure character of the genre. If you are well-versed and interested in reading Tarzan and Allan Quartermain, the exploits of the adventurous puritan may strike your fancy. Probably a little obtuse for those not familiar with the genre.
