Rabbit Run - I found this to be a bit uneven. A number of times I thought his prose was too flowery for the subject and the story itself wasn't all that interesting. There were some enjoyable moments but I've been reading much better than this. Rabbit Redux - Much better than Rabbit Run. He has toned down the prose and made the story more interesting. I enjoyed reading it in small doses. Not sure if how I read it made it seem disjointed, or the story itself is. The book itself is a slow read and seems like Updike would get tired telling one story so he would switch direction all together. Finished 11/29/07.

Most fabulous writing style I have ever encountered! Descriptive quality is awe inspiring, the mundane becomes spectacular in Updike's world. He never ceases to amaze me with his deep insight, wit, and ability to tug at the heart strings. His characters can be awfully seedy and sometimes they really anger me with their actions but at least they are complex and not superficial representations of...more
