more I absolutely loved this book. It takes place right before and during World War I, and is placed in the Mountains in the deep South. It brings to light the differences between "city folks" and "country folks", "men and women", "Cherokee" and "white-man", "family" and "in-laws". It truly is an amazing story, told thru the eyes of Vine, a Cherokee girl, raised with her family, who marries a "white man" Saul, leaves her family to live with his family. The changes she goes through her life, Saul leaves to work the woods during the war. How the women handled it when there where no men around, and keeping the farms going. I'm really not doing this book justice...just trust me...read this one!!
