Exile (Star Wars: Legacy of the Force, Book 4)

Some parts were a bit slow, and it was probably my least favorite of the LotF series so far. That being said, there were some really great and heartwrenching parts, like Jacen's reaction to being surrounded by his family at the end and Ben's decision about what to do with the little girl on Ziost. You go from page to page aching for Ben to break free of Jacen's spell.

Okay at best.

Este libro es el causante de que dejara de leer la saga Legacy of the Force. Todo iba muy bien hasta llegar a este libro. Es un embole y no tiene avance. Muy aburrido y poco recomendable.

The Legacy of the Force continues with another superb book. It's hard to imagine what's coming next.

It's Star Wars. What's not to love? One the other hand, the galaxy is sliding toward Civil War, Jacen is turning to the Dark Side, and Lumiya and Alema are back to wreke havoc. I like how the characters are paying the price of the franchise's earlier slide toward relativism. Not a good idea.

This is Aaron Allston's second addition to the series and with it, he is starting to become one of my new favorite Star Wars authors. This novel is pretty much the tip of the iceberg for the whole series, the war officially starts in this novel with 3 planets forming the first stage of the Confederation. Little do these worlds know that this war is being manipulated from the inside by someone with evil intentions. After the Confederation is declared war upon, more planets follow suit and secede from the Galactic Alliance (American Civil War, anyone?) The war has begun. Apart from Allston's effective use of humor, another trait of his that makes him stand out is his very character driven plot. With him, it's about presenting a solid character's journey and transformation from performing and completing certain tasks. Allston demonstrates this especially with Ben Skywalker, when he is sent on a mission on his own to face life-and-death peril, which ultimately is a test to determine if he has the qualities of a Sith apprentice. This is definitely another hit by Aaron Allston, and I'm looking forward to reading his last book in this so-far great series.   hide

Things take a turn for the worse in the series, and that's a good thing.
