Something different from Terry Brooks! I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. It was great to have a magical world from a world we relate to.

This was an odd turn for Brooks' Shannara series. The novel takes place not in the Shannara world, but in the good ol' United States, or the ruins of the States at least. It was definitely a change from Terry's usual Shannara book but change can be good and I still enjoyed this book

This is great. I had kind of lost interest in Terry Brooks' last couple of Shannara series, but this got me back! Set as a prequel to the Sword of Shannara series, it starts about 50 (?) years after humans have pretty much destroyed the world, and most of the race in the process, and demons are starting to take it over. This novel felt a bit slow. I understand that it is setting up the trilogy, but even a New Hope was an interesting story in the Star Wars trilogy.

Armageddon's Children is quite definitely the first in a trilogy--some issues are resolved by the end of the book, but most are not. I wasn't specifically aware of that when I started reading, but I wasn't surprised--most of Terry Brooks's books come in trilogy form.
