more This book was recommended to me by our librarian. It was an excellent choice as I really enjoyed it. I felt there were gaps in the storyline; I would have preferred more detail in some chapters (for example: James's funeral) but in the end, it didn't need it. I related to Ellen in many occassions (relaxing by the lake, watching the kids swim, going to church on christmas eve, lighting the advent candles, etc.) Even the description of her son reminded me of one of my own. The scene most memorable to me was when she held him in her arms, his body across her lap, rocking in the chair while he died. I cried for Ellen's pain and the pain I hope never to feel over the loss of a child.
