This book is 50% NBA gossip, 50% actual basketball. Loved it. Shirley is a fantastic writer, gets you involved and caring. Very funny. Nice to see how green the grass really is not...

Paul Shirley is a pretty good writer and if you get his sense of humor and like sports you'd really like this book.

If you have ever read Shirley's blog on ESPN, or when he was with the suns then you know what to expect. Shirley gives you insider tales from the NBA from an outsiders perspective. It is a good read for any sports fan, or really any fan of memoirs.

I just finished this book last night. It was good. It's a journal, so it doesn't have a plot and really doesn't go in any direction. (Except chronological, I suppose.) However, this book was funny and it gives a unique insight into being a journeyman professional athlete.

I enjoyed the stories and the attitude, though the humor wasn't strong enough at this length. And the diary approach ultimately didn't work that well either. Still, it was an interesting look from the inside at pro basketball.

Funny, but you want to hit the guy on the head after a while...some of his decisions are made from very selfish and childish places.

OK, I finished and this is one of the best sports books, no, one of the best books, I have ever read. He is a great writer, damn him! How old is he 25? 26? He has played pro basketball AND written a best-seller! Damn him. This is one of the very best of the quirky books that I love to read. I cannot recommend it highly enough!

This guy is a lot more cynical than I expected. Also not as much about on the court action. I also had no idea he was apart of my home team Atlanta Hawks. Cool look at behind the scenes bball action.
