LKH lost her way on this one. Swallowing Darkness is a mishmash of various plotpoints and Merry jumps from one to another throughout the book. Some loose ends are tied up with sparkly bows, but even though they may look pretty, they don't satisfy. Characters and events which played major roles in the previous books are MIA. Characters I thought I knew behaved in ways I never thought possible, and the Goddess is apparently Merry's Glynda/genie/fairy godmother (no pun intended).
All in all, SD is anti-climatic, at best. I for one will leave Merry with her "happy-ever-after" ending.
