This is Book 7 in The Merry Gentry series written by Laurell K. Hamilton. I highly recommend the series. The covers of these books are very deceiving ... they look like romance novels, but they are really an intricate dark fantasy series from the author that wrote the Anita Blake Vampire Hunter series.

The last book (that I know of) in the Meredith Gentry series. Awesome awesome conclusion to Merry's predicaments at court, and among her men...and the return of a very special suitor! Who could it be? Must read!

Not the end? Why that final paragraph if this isn't the last book of the series? LKH lost her way on this one. Swallowing Darkness is a mishmash of various plotpoints and Merry jumps from one to another throughout the book. Characters I thought I knew behaved in ways I never thought possible, and the Goddess is apparently Merry's Glynda/genie/fairy godmother (no pun intended). All in all, SD is anti-climatic, at best. I for one will leave Merry with her "happy-ever-after" ending.   hide
