True story reads like fiction... Young boy lives in WWI England on street with Jewish families on one side of the street and Christian families on the other side of the street. Poverty, religious intolerance, coming of age love story...what's not to like?

I thought this book was pure genius!!! There was nothing about it that was fake or untrue about the time. Harry Bernstein is a fabulous author and I want to read his second book entitled "The Dream".....read tis book....I couldn't put it down!!

Good book nothing fun a very true and ugly portrait of war and racism. I enjoyed the book and could hardly believe it was written by a 93 year old man. WOW. I think it is a must read
