Although this book started off a bit slow for me (it was me, not the book, trust me) once I was able to really sit down and get into the storyline, it had me hook, line and sinker.  Although this book started off a bit slow for me (it was me, not the book, trust me) once I was able to really sit down and get into the storyline, it had me hook, line and sinker. The web that was weaved between the four generations of women in this story is incredible and so interesting to read about. The changeovers between women and time line flowed seamlessly and the story was captivating. I simply loved this book, and am grateful I had a chance to peek into the lives of Mifalda, Lu, Rose and Carrie. This book is jam packed with feeling and emotion, a wonderful book!!!! 5/5   hide

Fast-paced. You get into the characters' lives quickly, and it's only in-depth when it needs to be (a positive for me).

This book is a real page turner, I couldn't put it down until I knew how it all played out.  The way the author presents the complexity of mother daughter relationships is pretty amazing, and very recognizable no matter how good your relationship with your mother is.  I was particularly interested by the character (name forgotten) who was the rich girl turned extreme philanthropist...more
 This book is a real page turner, I couldn't put it down until I knew how it all played out.  The way the author presents the complexity of mother daughter relationships is pretty amazing, and very recognizable no matter how good your relationship with your mother is.  I was particularly interested by the character (name forgotten) who was the rich girl turned extreme philanthropist and how that affected her daughter; and examing how selfless hse really was?  I would rate this a must read for any women who love fiction.  Men too if you're so inclined!   hide
