I think it was supposed to be an 'accessible' philosophy book and for me it was just very hard to read and utterly boring

I would recommend the book to its audience intended: little girls. I did like it and enjoyed it but it was also vague. I'm not stupid; I am fully aware that the entire history of philosophy cannot be shoved into a book but I was hoping for other topics. One of the few books I was assigned to read for school that I actually enjoyed. This book is very deep and thought provoking. I read it for Dr. Stach's class at Bethany, as well as reading it with my friend Jean-Laurent, so we could discuss it. I need to re-read. Come to think of it, I can't even remember finishing it... As the cover says: A novel about the HISTORY of philosophy. So putting a note and a pen aside would be nice. Yet it was a good read and I did tilt my head thinking sometimes throughout reading it.

Looking through the eyes of a 12 year old makes even the most ordinary things come alive in a special way. The book traces the origins of philosophy and takes us through the minds of the philosophical greats in a an manner that is at once simple and yet manages not to sound dumbed down/pedantic.
