This book, a Hamlet prequel of sorts from the king and queen's perspective, shows that hunch is correct. A well written book, it contains the love story of a queen marrying a man she does not truly love and falling in love with the king's brother. The best part of the book is the last paragraph, which is the beginning of the original Hamlet when he decides to live in Denmark. Claudius looks around and realizes that all his plans and goals are achieved and life is good.
