so far it's interesting. i just started reading it.

This book scared the pants off me. That's not something I often say. It's not the best book I've read, sure, but it is genuinely creepy. Everything about it seems to come together well, and the use of humor is striking (and just serves to make the scares even worse).

Quite amazing. Totally unpredictable. Masterful writing.

While this book is one of my favorites, I am not of the opinion that it is some awe inspiring work of genius. The author obviously has entirely too much time on his hands, and while the book is entertaining (and quite frightening for claustrophobes like myself), it's not the best thing I've ever read. I read this when it first came out about 10 years ago and it really blew my mind. I just re-read it for a book club, and it's still a mind-f**k. I especially love the Whalestoe Letters.

A truly creepy horror story. You really might lose some sleep over this one.

Makes the page a stage.
