I had to stop reading this when one sister gets breast cancer and the other commits suicide...an intriguing read up till then when I had to stop. Having just lost my dear next door neighbor, Pat, to breast cancer it just depressed me too much.
My expectations were low on this one, but I was pleasantly surprised. It did not follow the predictable flow of so many novels and the prose is up to the standards of Julia Glass' best work.
Good rendition of the complicated relationships that most sisters have...particularly ones who are very different. Julia Glass is a strong writer if you like character and a subtle analysis of family interactions.
