Very good. I loved that she bought the review of applied ethics, very un Isabel like. I wish she and Jamie would talk more about where their relationship is heading though.

Alexander McCall Smith's books set in Edinburgh are a delight,this being no exception. I love the environment in which this is set and with McCall Smith's expert narrative and description of Edinburgh and Jura , its so easy to lose yourself in isabel's world. Full of charm and so wonderfully old school. perfect for a rainy bank holiday monday.

This was a satisfying sequel to "The Right Attitude to Rain." Though Isabel Dalhousie could be criticized (and often is by other characters) as over-thinking everyday interactions and events as ethical dilemmas, I developed an appreciation for her habit of thinking through the ethics and implications of her everyday choices. I found it inspiring and even an antidote to the self-seeking...more
