Very well researched, very even-handed biography on Gram. On nearly every point the author took pains to get the perspective of more than one source, and the result is a more balanced view of the controversial events of Gram's short 26 years. If you're going to read one Gram bio, this is the one.

The author obviously put a lot of work into this comprehensive biography. Unfortunately, the author also injects himself into the narrative at odd moments. And I think Gram is greater than given credit for here, where he is portrayed as a clueless jerk who screwed over his friends by walking away from success. It was still a compelling read and of course made me dig out the music. If you are a fan you will want to read this but you might get angry along the way.   hide
