Since I have been wearing a t-shirt for the past few years with the classic Che image on it, this book was my intro to El Che. Patrick Symmes does a fair job introducing the reader to Ernesto Guevarra de la Serna and his "America" and the place and times that sculpted him as a 26 year old man, but I have to admit I was looking for something a bit more biographic at the onset. By the last quater of the book, I was enrapt. Chasing Che firmly planted Che in my crosshairs for for future reading.   hide

An instant favorite of mine: Motorcycles, South America, Fishing and Leftist Revolutionaries can you see why I like it? The writing is on the dry side and very journalistic but still good.

this is great. and i believe someone produced an international film based on the book, which i have also seen, and which i also love. i love the life and times of Che.

It was a solitary trip, and those who see the appeal of traveling alone will probably like the book more than those who don't....more

It was a solitary trip, and those who see the appeal of traveling alone will probably like the book more than those who don't. This is the second time I've read it, so put me in with the former group; I'm ready to buy a BMW R80 G/S and light out for the territories.   hide

I could not put it down, this one could be in my top 3 travel book, and i even don't like bikes. The movie was petty good too.
