This is a fascinating book that shows connections between history and the development of musical temperament. One may need to enjoy both history and the physics of music to really appreciate this book, but that's good for me.

I've never seen such an amazing book before; and I read a whole lot, on many topics! I can't even get through it, yet all the pages are filled with notes. Mr. Isacoff is a master at telling a story, at explaining the issue, and making the music come alive; but most of all: he makes you think. He makes you think like never before!
