Maximum City: Bombay Lost and Found

I have been in Mumbai 06 - so it was wonderful to read the reports about extreme/devoted people living there - thankful & full of respect of all the different views to life...

True to life and a very well written book about the most glamorous city of India, for those of us who have never lived there and only seen it through hindi movies and of course Slumdog Millionaire its a must read.

A Peice written in true spirit!!!! The spirit we call it the mumbai spirit.......

Fantastic, deeply engrossing narrative...I take away one star only for not focusing more on the positives of Bombay..the city truly is a lifelong love

Grew tiresome at times. Too much focus on violence and sex and other bad things happening in Mumbai. Stopped reading near the end. But a really good book to get an insider look on Mumbai.

A really interesting read about the underbelly of India's richest city. A really interesting read about the underbelly of India's richest city. From the slums to the penthouses, to the gangsters and the movie stars and all that comes along in India's entertainment industry and through to politics and how it all meshes together, the author has captured the city in such a way that the tourist does not not know exists. He explains the function of the city in a way that leaves the reader scratching their head as to how India, the worlds largest democracy, has come this far. An interesting mix of characters each with their story to tell. Overall a great read. Will never look at Bombay the same.   hide

Awesome, the best non-fiction i have read till date, seems so unreal but is shockingly real.

Author has tried to cover almost all dimensions of the city. Must read...
