Not an easy read and definitely not a "feel good" poetry book, but Plath's laser sharp insight and scalpel like diction will cut through misunderstandings to find the underlying truths she exposes. Not pretty or for the faint of heart, this poet traveled a dark path fathoming all of its depths along the way. It's a shame she didn't value her life as much as we value her poetry; and her constant,...more

I adore Sylvia Plath and think she is a brillant writer, so mysterious and compelling...but...she makes me sad :(

Gorgeous work that is full of life...the love, the beauty, and the sorrow of it all.

Sylvia Plath's first book of poems. Although to a normal reader one might refer to a dictionary for most words, her usage of language is sharp. She displays her world out of dark imagery to bring forth her sorrows. One might want to refer to her Bio before reading so all is understood. Again, when carefully read, she will present a world unseen to an optamistic eye.

In all of her haunted abstraction, Sylvia always brings us closer to comprehending the potentials of what the english language can do with the mind and soul and vice versa.
