So far it's great. Fun to read unflattering things about the founders (other than the usual objections to slavery and oligarchy.)

One of my favorite books. The rocounting of the Burr-Hamilton duel sent the hairs on my arm on end!

Great historical fiction from GORE VIDAL (not "Edgar Box", one of Vidal's pen-names). Compelling look at revolutionary and post-revolutionary war America from the point of view of one of it's "bad guys".

Gore Vidal rocks. He makes American history come alive in the book as I've never seen in an American historical/historical fiction novel.

Loved Gore Vidal's view of the American war of independence. What was Burr doing with that army...Probably the beast argument for not making the 2nd guy in the election the VP!

Awesome, maybe Gore's greatest historical novel. You never want it to end - and at a brief 600 odd pages it's over much too quickly.

BURR was the first of many Gore Vidal books that I bought sight unseen. His masterful writing and complete background research brings each historical character to life in a surprising and captivating way. This is also the first of three novels dealing with this political family (1876 and WASHINGTON, D.C. are the other two).
