Sunset and Sawdust

I really like the way Joe R Lansdale writes.

The book was well written, and seemed promising, but the plot line was horrible, it turned into sentimental drivel, and the ending was so unmemorable that I forgot I even read this book!

Three words: Wonderful, wicked and vengeful;-) I simply love it. Normally I am very skeptical about books with a maincharacter of the female variaty;-) but since I trust Mr. Lansdale I gave it a shot, and I can only say that I was not dissapointed.... It was dirty, in your face, vicious , racey, enthralling and filled with black humour....just the way I like...more

It was dirty, in your face, vicious , racey, enthralling and filled with black humour....just the way I like it:-) Luckily I had read the novellette "the big blow" which features some of the characthers of this novel and it is a good idea to read this first I will give you a deeper involvment into the story. It might be in order to warn those faint of heart or any upthight person who might consider reading the book. If you want to know if this book is for you, then please consider the following: can you stomach detailed violence, gore, sexual overtones/describtions, bad language and the harsh realities of the world??? If the answer is yes then do not hesitate....go buy the book...NOW....   hide

An excellent and compelling read. Very truthful and realistic of Americia's racial history. It was good to have a gutsy heroine for a change.

Tuve dos impresiones quando lo lei, al principio, grotesco, despues del final, despues de un par de dias me di cuenta de quanto me gusto.Es decir, mucho.Los personajes son geniales.

Like early McMurtry but better.
