I enjoyed this book, though it left me feeling pretty down. A look into what I imagine is rural America not at its' finest? Does it play too much off of stereotypes, or is it realistic? I guess I can't say. The dialog is compelling and seems down-to-earth enough, like things real people might say.  I liked this book despite the depressed feel to it.

Something different from most of the other writers I like (Annie Proulx, Jules Hardy, Kate Grenville,etc) but still quiet entertaining.

Loved this book. It is a follow-up to "Plainsong" and I wish there was a follow-up to this book as well. Centers mainly around two brothers who take in an unwed teenage mother. The characters are memorable and loveable. One of my favorite books ever.
