Not as great as Plainsong, the book that introduces most of the characters and the place in Eventide.

Something different from most of the other writers I like (Annie Proulx, Jules Hardy, Kate Grenville, etc) but still quiet entertaining.

Just finished it, SOBBED. I will miss visiting with the magnificent, mundane, perfect characters.

Sequel to PLAINSONG. Not as good as the original, but Haruf's writing style is still as sparse and engrossing as the eastern Colorado town he writes about.

Loved this book. It is a follow-up to "Plainsong" and I wish there was a follow-up to this book as well. Centers mainly around two brothers who take in an unwed teenage mother. The characters are memorable and loveable. One of my favorite books ever.

This one is close to my heart because it is about Colorado, but everyone should read it anyway.

Plainsong and Eventide are two of my favorite books. When is Kent Haruf going to write another book?

This book is somewhat grim in its subject matter but, Haruf's writing is really sublime. The character development occurs so gradually that you near the end and you are amazed at how both the pitiful and heroic characters have entranced you. If you enjoyed Plainsong....,you will love Eventide......and E is worth the read no matter what.
