didnt like it

It's sensual in it's descriptions, you can actually smell the words

ugh! horrible book. incredibly boring. read more like a manual on how to make perfume rather than a story about a murderer.

The greatest novel written in the last 25 years.

I completely did not expect to like this book (at all). It was picked for a book club I was in. It was a page-turner. I didn't care for the ending though - I just sat there and said, "that was it?!" Read this with my book club - really didn't think I was going to be able to get into it....Surprise! I couldn't put it down. Very descriptive, a bit morbid...more

With more description of the murderer's inner feelings, he was presented as a more cruel and cold-blooded monster than that in the movie most of the times. In the movie, I would say he was an "innocent" man who was pursuing his love of the odour. But here, I have to admit he was a monster who was living to possess beautiful odours. A very bizzar book that is taking me a long time to read.... Can't really get into it.
