Great account of how the mighty and clever fail because of overconfidence in their own intellect and underestimating the power of the markets...

A story about hubris of the worst kind. A must read for finance students aspiring to be investment bankers and hedge fund operators and a great mystery read for others.

Agaijn one of my personal favourties tells you how a much of the best minds in the world goffed up big time. Is a nice read not very heavy on finance. I felt it read more like a novel. It ahd everything that you need in a thriller - deceit, suspense, rivalry etc. tells u how when egos take over even the best minds can fail . The book is mostly on how the so called genius in traders lingo got...more

Great book on why (mistaken) genius and greed in finance during a bull market is a bad idea.

good lesson on risk management, and the proper balance in leverage and liquidity when managing risk. Applies very much even in the economic/financial markets of today. Account shows that markets truly aren't efficient all the time. No financial models can account for the unpredictability of humor behavior when forecasting potential risk & return.

Bo-o-o-o-o! I've just started, but that looks like not i was looking for. No jokes, no fun. Mere facts. and what bores more is that the book is written for common audience (i.e. explaining simple financial concepts) by the author who also not an insider. Verdict: A biography of Merriwether with little fiction added.
