Read the first 20 pages and set it down. Boring.

it was okay, lots of detail but not as deep as 'Eat Pray Love'

Memoir of a middle-aged woman who takes a sabbatical from her job as a newspaper reporter to spend time in other countries to expand her horizons and "find herself". Actually very good.

What a great way to travel, when you can't get away! Steinbach had me looking up so many references to art, photographers, literary references, and other authors... my next read will be something by Freya Stark, thanks Alice for the beautiful read and memories of Europe revisited!

I would love to travel like her. Great story teller. Loved it.

I was so disappointed in this book. I forced myself to finish it (why?), but for someone who claims to be adventurous, she was anything but. Nor was she even travelling alone much of the time. Doesn't deliver on what it promises.

If you love adventure and facing fears, this book is for you. It offers inspiration to those who are afraid to try something new. It also makes excellent historical references about France and Italy. Love it!!!!

I really enjoyed this book although others in my book group were quite critical. I think my enjoyment emanated from my own travels, particularly in Paris, London, Rome and Venus. Steinbach refreshed my memories and reinforced my belief that nothing takes the place of travel.
