Buckley continues to be the funniest political satirists I know of.

Buckley never fails to deliver a hilarious story with a great flow. I'd dare say I enjoyed it more than Thank You For Smoking, if only for the deviousness -- or is it resourcefulness-- of Boyce Baylor. I respect his sense of self-preservation.

The reason I began reading this book is attributed to the author's name that is slapped on the cover. Generally I'm not big on anything political (as far as my pleasure reading goes). I'm not big on law novels, and I'm not very often impressed by satire. But, this book was A TON of fun to read and I loved every minute of it. It was clever and entertaining and the next trip to a bookstore I take, I'll be coming home with as many other Buckley books as I can find.

A textbook example of how to do satire. It captures perfectly the spirit of the moment in which it was written and manages - impressively - to skewer the media circus of celebrity trials, a philandering POTUS and the shifting winds of public opinion. A delicious read.

While it's not quite up to the standards of his other novels, this is still a decent satirical novel about the First Lady's "trial of the century" for the murder of the President. My only serious complaint is that the ending is a little too absurd and requires a sudden change in direction.
