very dissapointing of miss Austen. I often found myself getting lost, not really paying attention to the story.

The first half of this book is a novel of development and the second part is a Gothic Parody. The second part is so much more interesting than the first.

oh lord! austen is so shrewd in depicting the subtle hues of flirting! she has a discerning eye for any character no matter how complex...for her the world is all exposed and its secrets are right before her eyes
