This is a collection of more mature stories by Roald Dahl. He also writes about how he became a writer and it has his very first short story that was published in the Saturday Evening Post. A very nice collection of stories that are classic Dahl from a story about a boy who saves a giant sea turtle, a man who sees without his eyes, and a rare non-fiction story about buried treasure.

Dahl writes about a card shark who uses yoga to see through the cards, a pickpocket who can steal the hair off your head without you getting on, and other wonderful things children need to know about.

Roald Dahl is one of my favorite authors. This collection of short stories is entertaining but has its dark moments, like Dahl's books; however he always manages to capture the human element expertly.

I read lots of Roald Dahl as a young child, but read this one when I was more of an adolescent (which was about right). A number of the stories have really stayed with me; perhaps they impacted me more because they were so different from the other works by Dahl that I'd read as a child. I've re-read it a number of times throughout the years, and it's come to be one of my favorites.

A great collection of short stories set in English during colonial times. One of the best stories was the treasure found in a farm land and the question arises whether the treasure belonged to the government by reason of a statute governing treasures.
