Paolini is one of those Authors who, While I do enjoy the Actual Story being told, I am not particularly fond of his Writing Style. He tries to hard to be like Tolkien while falling a bit short of the mark. Still, if you can get past his long-windedness the stories in this series are quite enjoyable There were parts where I found myself quiet enthralled with the story and towards the end of...more

While not quite as good as the first two novels in the series, this one is still very likable. Paolini is well in tune with his characters, and the world and the plot still manages to hold interest. On the negative side, this book seems to meander quite a bit, spending considerable time in plot sections that could hvae been resolved much quicker. The whole section with the dwarves, though...more

whats funny about this is that the other day i was watching starwars. i related several things to it.... -they both have a trainer, they both die, (Obi-wan/Oromis) -once luke is turned into a jedi, he uses the force and gets a lightsaber, when Eragon is turned into a dragon rider, he gets to use magic, and the sword, Brisingr. -They are both trying to kill the emperor -they both have a girl...more

Paolini has grown as a writer (the plot of this installment is the most complex and least derivative of the series)—but has also gotten very indulgent with language. Even my 10-year-old remarked on his lading-on of the high-blown/overblown vocabulary. As with the Harry Potter books, the characters and their moral choices become more and more complex; here though I really...more

The third book of the Inheritance cycle, is epic in length and in story. It's one that you hasten to read, wanting to tackle it's bulk, but then feel a bit hollow when it ends...wanting more. The mental and emotional bond between Dragon and Rider who complete each other is beautifully explored in this instalment. The crux of this book is family and relationships - the earlier books Eragon, Eldest...more

As always, enjoyable read that mostly keeps you engaged and wanting to keep reading. It did, however, lack much of a story arc with any kind of sense of climax and ending. That fits, given that this is the first half of what was originally conceived as the third and final book, but now has been split into two books. So this is the middle of the end, or something like that. Will definitely read...more

Did I really give this three stars? Now I'm just remembering how painful it was to get through. I sure hope he wraps this mess up in the next book. Reading this was kind of a chore. Like many I was disappointed that this is not the last book in the series. There is a section of about 200 pages which consists mainly of Eragon complaining about the dullness of dwarf meetings, followed by...more

Well, the first book had a decent idea, the second was pretty good but this one was just a dissappointment. I think the man is trying too hard to write a novel that will be loved and remembered. Too bad he won't be remembered like Tolkien (even though that is what he's trying to do). Try as he might, Paolini will never be Tolkien despite his trying to copy Tolkien's orks and Urukai. I'm...more

I absolutely loved it. I really enjoyed how everything begun to make a lot of sense, not just to Eragon but to the reader also as you neared the end of the story. some of the intricate details that Paolini shared with us makes the journey all that more magical and the in-depth look at how items are made and how organisms move makes Alaegasia all that more realistic that I found myself being...more
