I had been waiting to read the newest by Giff for a long time, and now finally I have. more I had been waiting to read the newest by Giff for a long time, and now finally I have. As a fan of Giff, this book was good and had some of her usual qualities...unusual stories...realistic "feel like yuou're there" settings, quriky and real characters, and all those other little details that make her such a good writer. I have to say, this was definately not my fave by her, but it was still good and pretty solid. I am not a horse story fan, but this had a little more depth than a "horse story". A girl moves from her bloved South America homeland to go live with her father near NYC. The only connection she feels is with one of her father's new horses, named wild girl. Ultimately, this was a story of chasing dreams, being strong, and belonging. And family.
Like I said, not near as good as my personal favorites (Nory Ryan's Song and Lily's Crossing) but still pretty good and def worth picking up. I would like to see Giff turn back to some good old historical fiction that she's known for (after writing eleven and this, both not historical fiction)
