Wow!! This book is great, carrying on the story of Eragon and Saphira. It has everything that you want from a story...action, drama, love, intrigue and human emotion...even if it is from a dwarf, elf or dragon. more grown up than the first book this covers the story of Eragon's training with the elves and the story of the villagers of carvahall and Roran, Eragon's cousin. I really...more

The plot of Eragon continues and becomes engaging the more you read. I personally liked this on better than the first, though many people disagree. I thought that the plot developed much more smoothly and the character gained more purpose...Anyhow, this was a great read and I can't wait for the next.

Okay. I actually really enjoyed the first book, Eragon. This one? Not so much. I stopped a few chapters in because I found that it wasnt quite holding my interest. But I have to say that Dragons were never really my thing in the first place...I would absolutely recommend this to anyone who was looking for something of this particular style. I can definitely see the quality here, even though it...more

The plot is cliched, the language pompous and poetic, the narrative overly descriptive, the names ridiculous. And it's BRILLIANT! I found myself hooked from the first dramatic encounter to the final Epic Battle Scene (TM). Surely this is every teenage geek-boy's fantasy - a mind bond with an intelligent, good-hearted dragon, a sexy elf chick and a proud but patient mentor. What more...more

Well I must admit that I was not expecting too much with Eldest, after all I found Christopher Paolini’s first part (Eragon) too be a little long. Well, this book could have been two books and stood well on their own (I found that there was too much detail for a reader to concentrate on the story). But, I must admit that Mr. Paolini’s writing has matured. In his first book there was a feeling...more

Not quite the book that Eragon was (that one was a classic that can stand on it's own...unlike that godforsaken movie adaptation which was totally unredeemable outside of Jeremy Irons and the kid who played Eragon!) This book went on a little too long for me with a not enough interest to make me want to keep reading accept for the fact that I liked the first novel so much. Roran's story...more
