Not one of my favorites, but not a bad book.

Spectacular, as usual! My mother finds my penchant for dark children's literature alarming. Though I wouldn't call this entirely dark, it has its elements of that. It's complex, and realistic without being boring.

My favorite 'tween read from the summer of 2008. This book spoke to me on many levels. First of all, I loved the seasonal journey through the story--raspberry, strawberry, blueberry. I chuckled at the description of the main character trying to babysit the herd of young children. I had been in a similar situation when I was in sixth grade, and that was the end of babysitting for me!...more

Another lightly fantastic tale from Horvath, this one a bit more Trolls and less Everything on a Waffle. The quirky tone still entertains, but the story here doesn't quite gel. Lovely writing, but a bit of a letdown.

One of Polly Horvath's best, a great read for ages 10 and up.

I loved this story. It's a great read for the summer and I could visually see all the characters and the setting so clearly. I really enjoyed reading about one girl's summer and her 'adventures'. Polly Horvath wrote some very memorable pieces in this novel that tugged on my heart! I recommend this book!
