Great book about Caesar's early political career in Rome. Gives much insight about the women in his life: his mother, Aurelia, his daughter, Julia, and his mistress, Servilia (of HBO's Rome fame). Excellent book in McCullough's series.

Part of the best series of historical fiction ever written about Rome during the end of the republic.

This book is very interesting, as it has very detailed descriptions of the inner workings of Roman government, but also plenty of sexy and action-filled scenes. Overall, very well done historical fiction (although the bit with Servilia's back hair is a bit bizarre.)
