more This book continues the story of the pending onslaught from the army in Novindus. I think Raymond is a master at creating tension and setting up the stage. Unfortunately, in this installment he has failed to deliver. Perhaps his build-up to this final confrontation was too much; perhaps we as readers expect too much, given the success of his previous books. Whatever the reason, I finished this book with a feeling of disappointment. I would have enjoyed this book much more if Feist spent sometime to keep us in the final confrontation, keep us in the final battle. In scenes such as these, I would have to say Salvatore does a much better job. Finally, (warning: spoiler!!!): I have a personal issue with Nakor and the discussion about gods and the meaning of life. This section was a little too philosophical for me, especially in that section of the book (e.g. the invasion of the Novindus army).
