I enjoyed the dark atmosphere and portrayal of the inn and the moors, however for me it was just not as good as the superb 'Rebecca', and felt the main character and plot were contrived and just not plausible.

I know I should rant about this one as well...but somehow it didn't captivate me like Rebecca did. All very windswept and smugglish ( not a word, I know). And, I have visited the Inn in question a couple of times, nice, remote place...book never grabbed me though.

Wow. This book is over the top. Ridiculous but entertaining. Kept me busy during a 3.5 hour visit to the doctor.

This book was pretty good! I loved the story, but there were a few gramatical errors which were a little distracting. All in all a good read.

Is it worth reading this book? Yes and no. For all the action and adventure it provides, there is too much description of the moorland.

This was a cracking good read! A good old fashioned corker and scary as well. Superb. From the beginning you're hooked. Excellent atmosphere and first class storytelling gothic style. The oldies are always the best. I can't believe I hadn't read it before. I'm going to get my hands on her other stuff too. Joss Merlyn... imagine Heathcliffe on steroids!
