more I'm especially disappointed in this book, as Hawkins was undertaking a story not often seen in the genre: the H/h had been in love 10 yrs earlier, the h was not a an inexprienced virgin and there was a smuggling mystery. Usually, it's gerat to get something different... but the first half was SO s-l-o-w. It was full of extremely repetitive filler and read as though the author was simply trying to make a word count deadline. I only continued plugging away because I was bedridden and needed something to do. The second half picked up a bit, but definitely not any kind of standout, plot-wise or otherwise. . Nevertheless, I will still give the 3rd in the trilogy a try, only because of the character potential. ** stars
