My mom had the first edition hard cover of this and when I read it I couldn't sleep for weeks. I could not go around corners without peeking first to see down the hall. I was scared out of my mind. Then I watched the movie. Of course I was scared because the master of horror got me there and because he gives you permission to go to these dark places with him. This story takes you to that place you always wondered about. The desereted hotel. Like the deserted mall or amusement park. You always wondered what haunted them at night. ha ha ha ~~~~~   hide

This hardly ever happens with me, but I think I enjoyed the movie even more than the book (due to Jack Nicholson's incredible talent at bringing his character to life). I loved the book, which gets much deeper into the characters' heads than a movie ever could.

Its the F***ing Shining!!! No word are needed to describe this monstrous novel
