Ahhh, the night shift. Nothing like the quietness of it. In King's "Night Shift" we have 20 shorts. The well known "Jerusalem's Lot (later shortened to Salem's Lot), Graveyard Shift (sweet), "Trucks", "The Lawnmower Man", Children of the Corn"--we all have heard of these, and for good reason. It's been a while since I read this, and...more

This is the book that started my love affair with Stephen King's writing. I still remember where I was when I started reading this book of short stories, and 29 years later, some of the imagery still is as vivid as it once was...even though I have never reread the book!

One of the first King books I ever read. It's still a favorite.

This is the first book that taught me how enjoyable reading could be. Short stories here are some of his best.

Pretty solid, hard to put down. A little more consistent than Skeleton Crew but too many stories I thought were a little average. I'm being nitpicky. It was good. Gray Matter, Sometimes they come back, Battleground and Quitters Inc. were my favorites.

Stephen King short stories always remind me of the Simpsons Holloween specials. Stuff you would think is just wacky in a full novel seems to have a home here. There are a few clunkers in the mix (GIJoes coming to life), but the really fantasic ones (The Ledge, Children of the Corn) make up most of the book. Great read.

not as good as i expected. not the least bit scary. too much sci-fi & fantasy, not enough genuine horror.

The Boogeyman absolutely terrified me! I still must have the closet door all the way open or all the way shut!
