This is a book about meditation. The classic form of meditation is something a great thinking person does. For instance, the super-genius criminal Artemius Fowl, when confronted with a problem he has to think about, will go into a 'meditation' to try and find the answer. This book is not about that sort of meditation.
Another idea of meditation that you may be used to is 'meditating' on some holy scripture of whatever faith you have. I used to intensely study the Bible seeking an answer to my life's problems and issues. This book is not about that sort of meditation.
What is meditation? It is hard to describe. It is an experience that involves letting go of things in your mind and watching things. Some authors have described that it is sort of like watching a movie frame by frame, and noticing each frame for what it is. It is about finding that we can be here with ourselves and not hate our presence. It is about letting go of controlling and grasping. "By trying to control the uncontrollable we create hell." Meditation is not about the mind, but about the being. By that I mean, the spirit, the body, and the mind. All contain energy and define who we are. I used to see them as separate, now I am beginning to awaken to how one is rooted in the other. Am I being abstract? How can I not be? Meditation is something that has to be practiced. It is the realization that I have only touched the surface of things... that there is so much more underneath that is waiting to speak, if I just learn to awaken, observe and listen.
