Excellent read, not life-altering but feeds the soul and fuels the belief that we are all One.

The stories in this book are very intriguing, and it is great that the authors are attempting to get the evidence for animal emotions out in the open and away from the stigma of anthropocentrism that has prevented scientists from sharing anecdotes such as these in the past. However, the author's story in the opening about his pet duck that was eaten by his neighbors, while heart-breaking, shows the true motivation behind this compilation. Throughout the book there are multiple statements that because animals have emotions, it is awful for anyone to eat meat. This could be a perfectly valid argument, but I feel that it takes away from the book as a whole.   hide

I met this author at the Peace Abbey in MA. I absolutely love this book.

This book was not what i expected it to be. At times it is quite dry in an academic way, but it is probably one of the most important books i will evr read. i think that everyone should read this book. it WILL change the way you view the world around you and maybe even how you view yourself.

One of the most amazing book I read. I borrowed it from the NLB and I buy the book few years later from Amazon and read it AGAIN! If u love animals, u should read this.
