Men in kilts, blades, smart women, Paris in 1740's, stew and soup and above all the Scottish Highland clans. And time travel, because the heroine was actually a World War II battlefield nurse. Handy to have around after a blade is in your thigh, eh? Oh, and Claire and her Jamie do a little globe-trotting.
