Built up to nothing. After initially catching the attention, it fizzled into too much melodrama and not enough substance. Hoped for better after the first 100 pages. Very disappointing.

Wasn't as good as I had hoped.   I think it would have been much better to have been two separate stories.

I was surprised that I really enjoyed this book. Starting it I wasn't sure if I was going to like it, because it's not really about the people in the book, but the story of the crystal skull. However, even though the story was split between the 1500s and 2007, in the end it all came together beautifully and made for a really satisfying read.

This book had a lot of plot and didn't really seem to slow down enough to develop the characters at any point.  The success of the quest was often driven by the magical guidance of the skull artifact or various sage advisors who came by their knowledge in ways we never see.  I didn't really find it very satisfying.

Sounded great from the cover blurb. Didn't quite live up to that, but I kept reading hoping it would pick up. Very well written in some parts, and was certainly well researched.
