very rich in discriptions. Discriptive in a different fashion. Very vivid and lush!

If you take this book as a novel of a family in crisis, it's an engaging read. If you take it as anything more than that, you are apt to get your feelings hurt. While I thought it was engaging, I don't like it enough to recommend it.

I really liked this book. The voice of Eve was very powerful, lots of truth to it. Found myself wanting to tag pages where there was an especially true statement. Only complaint is that the writing was a bit uneven. Chapters switched voices of members of the family, a device which worked well in Poisonwood Bible, but sometimes the switch was less successful here. I know people will get...more

Interesting historical recreation but not very compelling. Details and narrative seemed sacrificed for overly poetic imaginings (I like poetic imagery when done well) and an awkward framework of Eve telling the story but focusing on the daughters voices as though first person.

THIS BOOK WAS A LITTE HARD TO READ AS IT GAVE ME SOME CONFLICT WITH WHAT IS BIBLICAL TRUTH AND THIS IS FICTION!! OTHERWISE, IT WAS A GOOD BOOK AND EASY FONT AND INTERRESTING VIEW POINTS. JUST READ IT AND UNDERSTAND THAT IT IS FICTION. YOU WILL FIND IT WILL GIVE YOU A VISION THAT STAYS WITH YOU A WHILE.

I was amazed at how Elissa combined her creativity with her disciplined scientific approach (biology tidbits) as she wrote the novel of Eve. Capturing the research of the Mesopotamian culture and the possible views and thoughts of Eve and her daughters/sons really delighted my mind and allowed me to think that God delights in allowing us to ponder the unknown, the gaps in what's...more

I would give this ten stars!! There was so much research done in this story; it's like the 'backstory' of Eve (and Adam, and their children)...what you might imagine happened in the Garden, and out of it everafter. There is a definite Biblical base in this novel. All the questions I might have had "as Eve" I find here, and eventually one sees the answers. All...more
